Obese Ghost Children has just delivered their second EP, appropriately titled Spöke. This project is an energetic follow up to their self-titled 3-song debut which dropped in August of 2015.
This 5-song EP serves as a cohesive re-introduction to the duo (consisting of rapper MCF and producer/vocalist Norty) and expands the sound they introduced on their last project. Spöke finds MCF taking a more vulnerable lyrical approach, while at the same time letting you know he doesn't take himself too seriously.
"I don't rep the city / I don't rep the region / I don't rep the dim hallway I was conceived in..." - MCF, Guts
Norty also gets to flex his production skills, incorporating elements of indie, electro, jazz-hop and house music. Vocally, Norty handles the singing portion for the majority of the hooks, adding a melodic contrast to the bold rap verses throughout.
It should also be noted that the EP features amazing guest appearances by Red Pill, Blaksmith and Mister of Passalacqua and S. Al. The music video for "Eyelids" dropped with the EP release. Directed by frequent OGC collaborator, Orange Cap, the imagery perfectly captures the mood of this melancholy banger.
You can see OGC on tour this Spring with Passalacqua.
